Advanced PRP
for Ankle & Foot.
Ankle and foot pain can make even basic movements difficult. Whether you are walking through the city or trying to stay active, persistent pain shouldn't be your norm.
Regenerative Care for Chronic Pain
Many patients come to me after trying rest, physical therapy, braces, orthotics, medications, or injections without lasting relief. Others want to avoid surgery whenever possible and are searching for a more natural approach focused on healing rather than simply masking pain.
I use Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy as part of a comprehensive regenerative medicine approach for select patients dealing with chronic ankle and foot pain. PRP therapy uses your body’s own healing properties to support tissue repair and reduce inflammation in damaged tendons, ligaments, and joints.
What Is PRP Therapy?
Platelet-Rich Plasma is created using a concentrated portion of your own blood. Platelets contain growth factors and signaling proteins that help support the body’s natural healing response. Unlike treatments designed only to temporarily numb pain, PRP focuses on improving the health of the injured structure itself.
Ankle & Foot Conditions Treated
Not every patient is a candidate for PRP. A detailed evaluation is essential before proceeding with treatment for conditions such as:
Includes chronic inflammation from sports injuries, overuse, and joint instability.
The Precision Protocol
Drawing on over 20 years of experience, I perform PRP injections using advanced image-guided techniques for absolute precision and safety.
Imaging Review
Reviewing symptoms, history, MRI, or ultrasound to pinpoint the exact source of pain.
Blood Draw
Collecting a small amount of blood from your arm in a sterile clinical environment.
Concentration
Processing the blood in a centrifuge to isolate platelets rich in growth factors.
Guided Injection
Precisely delivering PRP into the targeted tendon, ligament, or fascia using ultrasound.
Focused Regenerative Approaches
PRP for Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis develops when the band of tissue along the bottom of the foot becomes irritated and degenerative. I may recommend PRP when conservative treatments fail.
Common Symptoms:
- • Sharp heel pain in the morning
- • Pain after prolonged standing
- • Tenderness along the arch or heel
PRP for Achilles Tendon Pain
Tendon tissue often has limited blood supply and heals slowly. PRP help support healing in carefully selected patients with chronic degeneration.
Typical Presentation:
- • Stiffness in the back of the ankle
- • Difficulty pushing off while walking
- • Swelling around the tendon
PRP for Ankle Arthritis
Often related to prior trauma or ligament damage, arthritis causes grinding and reduced mobility. PRP may reduce inflammation and improve joint function.
Arthritis Indicators:
- • Joint stiffness and swelling
- • Difficulty with stairs or uneven surfaces
- • Pain during walking
PRP for Chronic Instability
Repeated sprains can weaken ligaments, making the ankle feel like it "gives out." PRP is used to support healing in damaged ligaments and improve stability.
Instability Signs:
- • Ankle "giving out" unexpectedly
- • Lacking support during activity
- • Recurrent sprains and injuries

Frequently Asked Questions
Is PRP painful?
Most patients tolerate PRP injections well. Some discomfort may occur during the procedure and temporary soreness afterward is common, especially when treating chronically damaged tissue.
Is PRP better than cortisone injections?
They work differently. Cortisone is designed primarily to reduce inflammation temporarily for symptom relief. PRP is intended to support tissue healing and regeneration for long-term health.
Can PRP help avoid surgery?
In some cases, PRP may help patients improve pain and function enough to delay or avoid surgery. However, severe structural injuries or advanced arthritis may still require surgical intervention.
Is PRP covered by insurance?
Many plans consider PRP elective. Our office can discuss pricing and treatment planning during your initial consultation at our Upper West Side clinic.

I started seeing Dr. Lal a few years back with horrendous pain in my back and down my leg. I could not sit down. Dr. Lal’s throughout and thoughtful approach changed my life. Her trigger point and other holistic therapies have had an ongoing extraordinary impact in my day to day life. There was a time where I was visiting family and I use a weight over my head and I absolutely could not move my arm. I could not even bend my arm to use a hair band. My mom took me a doctor who said I needed surgery. When I came home and saw Dr. Lal she used her in office equipment to identify and TREAT the issue- no surgery needed. Dr. Lal’s IV treatments even healed me after 2 very bad bouts of covid whose symptoms would not let go until after her treatments. Dr. Lal is a learned professional who has overseen my health and care with the utmost kindness and respect and continues to ensure my conditions do not impact my daily life. I would be remiss to not mention Dr. Lal’s extraordinary staff. They are caring and supportive and go above and beyond to take care of their patients. Most recently I needed paperwork to address my condition and it was very intense. I was asked initially to provide a form which Dr. Lal’s staff filled out quickly and with care and as well supplied a doctor’s note without me requesting it. Then what followed was an unexpected 4 page questionnaire that needed to be filled out. Dr. Lal and her staff are so incredibly busy that hated to have to ask for more time but her staff took care of these forms so thoughtfully. Addressing each question with precision and detailed oriented, knowledgeable answers that from how the questions were posed, were incredibly difficult. It was a very nerve racking process I was going through and they never made me feel as if I was being a burden or ‘bothering’ them. It is for all of these reasons that I am loyal, grateful, and thankful to Dr.Lal and her extraordinary staff.
